Nafisa Khatun is a 2-year-old girl with a gentle smile and a quiet resilience. Since birth, she has faced a number of health challenges that have deeply affected her development and daily life. Shortly after she was born, Nafisa began to suffer from convulsions and high fever. As time passed, more symptoms became noticeable—her parents saw that she was not growing like other children her age.
Nafisa has been diagnosed with a physical disability, epilepsy, and a learning disability. While she managed to crawl at 10 months and sit up by the age of 1, it wasn’t until she turned 2 that she began to take her first steps. Even now, she cannot walk properly, speak clearly, or perform daily tasks without help.
Her mother noticed something was different as early as four months after birth. Concerned, the family visited a doctor, who confirmed that Nafisa is a child with special needs. Since then, caring for her has required constant attention, especially from her mother, who helps her with every activity—eating, moving, and even simple communication.
Nafisa’s father is a low-income earner, and the family is struggling to afford the specialized treatment and therapy Nafisa urgently needs. Despite their love and care, they cannot provide the medical support that could help Nafisa live a better, more independent life.
